Our Cayuga ducks are laying!

Our Cayuga ducks have started laying eggs! They are so beautiful and unique. Our Cayuga ducks are still young so working out consistent shapes and laying regularly is still a work in progress. The dark black and grey bloom on their eggs will vary for each egg they lay. As their laying seasons change so will the color of their bloom. It will eventually be more cream like other ducks eggs. When I wash this egg before using it in my cakes or cookies (best use of duck eggs!) this dark stone color bloom will wash off and be a regular cream color underneath. How cool is that?!
