Garlic Scapes

Garlic 🧄 Scapes is probably our favorite phase of garlic growing. It’s when we can get a supply of garlic flavor to chop and freeze for winter use. Farmer 🧑‍🌾 Chris has been harvesting them as fast as they are growing right now.

What are garlic scapes?

Garlic scapes are the long green shoots that grow from the garlic bulb, and they are an amazing way to add garlicky flavor to your favorite dishes. Garlic scapes taste like a unique blend of onion, scallion and garlic. However, scapes are a bit milder and have a fresher, “greener” taste than the actual garlic bulbs. The texture is similar to that of asparagus.

Uses for Garlic Scape uses include:

🧄 Scapes are great for stir fry, soups and pasta dishes.

🧄 Scapes are especially great added to your guacamole or salsa.

🧄 Scapes are a flavorful addition to all egg dishes, from quiche & omelets to simple scrambles.

🧄 Scapes are also great just sautéed in butter and a little salt for a delicious side dish. Enjoy!
